Call for Regular Papers

The upcoming IEEE INDIN 2027 will be held in Lisbon, Portugal. As a prominent annual conference sponsored by the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, this event will gather the international community to present the latest research, share new ideas and engineering breakthroughs, and discuss current challenges and future directions in the field.

The organizing committee cordially invites high-quality papers representing original work, including but not limited to the following topics:

  • Software Technology, Architecture, and Engineering in Industrial Applications

  • Reliability, Security, Safety, and Resilience of Industrial Systems

  • Modelling, Monitoring, Diagnostics, Control, Operation, and Optimization of Automation Systems

  • Control, Communication, and Computing Co-design of Industrial systems

Authors may also submit Work-in-Progress (WiP) papers. These are up to 4-page contributions presenting preliminary research findings or innovative concepts that are not yet fully developed. Accepted WiPs will be included in IEEE Xplore.

Call for Special Session Proposals

To enhance the technical program and explore specific topics in greater depth, INDIN 2027 will include special sessions alongside the regular tracks. Special sessions may cover specific subjects or interdisciplinary topics within the broader scope of the conference. They can also be driven by specific Research & Innovation projects or clusters of projects.

Rules for Special Session Organisation

Prospective organisers of a Special Session (SS) should take note of the following guidelines:

  • Co-organisation: An individual can be a (co-)organiser of up to two Special Sessions.
  • Authorship: An individual cannot be (co-)author of more than two papers submitted to the same Special Session.
  • Organiser Contributions: Papers from organisers may not exceed 60% of the Special Session’s content.

In preparing a proposal, special attention should be given to compliance with IES rules for special sessions, the qualification and experience of the suggested reviewers, and potential support from relevant Technical Committees.

Proposal Submission and Evaluation

Special Session proposals should be submitted using the Special Session Proposal Form, which should include:

  • Title of the special session.
  • A brief description of the area of interest, highlighting specific technical aspects. Explicit reference to the sponsoring IES Technical Committee(s) (if any) is encouraged.
  • Names and contact details of at least two special session organisers, who will be responsible for promoting the session and ensuring enough quality submissions.
  • Background and short CVs of the organisers.
  • A list of potential reviewers and their affiliations.

The evaluation phase of a Special Session proposal begins immediately upon submission. Once approved, details of the session will be published on the conference website. Organisers are advised to submit their proposals early to maximise the available time for paper submission.

Responsibilities of Special Session Organisers

Once a Special Session is approved, organisers must:

  • Publicise the session among researchers and practitioners in the relevant field and attract enough high-quality papers.
  • Ensure compliance with the rules governing authorship and contributions.
  • Explicitly declare any conflicts of interest before the review process begins. Conflicts of interest may arise when an organiser is a (co-)author or has a personal or professional relationship with the authors of a submitted paper. Any such conflicts must be promptly reported to the SS Chairs.

Review Process

Papers submitted to special sessions will undergo the same rigorous review process as regular papers. The Special Session organisers are not involved in managing the review process. Instead, the SS Chairs will oversee this, ensuring that each paper is reviewed by a combination of reviewers from the Technical Track’s Program Committee and those recommended by the SS organizers.

Session Requirements and Support

  • A minimum of five accepted papers from authors affiliated with at least three independent institutions and two different countries (other than the organizers’ institutions) is required for each Special Session.
  • If a session receives too few papers, the accepted papers will be reallocated to the most appropriate regular track.
  • Should the organizational quality of a Special Session be deemed insufficient, conference organizers will provide advice and support. However, the right to cancel a Special Session is reserved.

Submit your Paper

All submissions must be uploaded through “IEEE IES Conferences Community System’s Paper Submission Website” following the schedule given on important dates. Each submission will be reviewed by independent reviewers using a single-blind peer review process and will be screened for plagiarism and duplicate publication. The accepted papers are to be presented at the conference and will be hosted on IEEE Xplore, subject to formatting and copyright requirements.

Prospective authors are invited to electronically submit regular papers of their work in English. Submit the full paper using the following layout. The limitation is to 6 total pages, including the paper title, authors and affiliations, figures, and references (maximum size 2MB). Up to two additional pages are allowed for a fee. Authors are requested to prepare the manuscripts in the IEEE two-column format template and to translate it in PDF. No other format in the submission and in the final version can be accepted. The IEEE two-column format template can be downloaded from “IEEE’s Manuscript Template for Conferences Website”.

If you have any issues with the Conference submission system, please contact the IES Conferences Community System Support (conferences@ieee-ies.org).

You should validate the PDF of your paper via IEEE’s PDF eXpress.
